People’s Democratic Movement Launched

The People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) has been launched to facilitate political, democratic and socioeconomic change in Ghana.

PDM would ensure the “redemption, reconstruction and rebirth of the Republic of Ghana.”

The movement is optimistic Ghana can be developed into a modern nation that will harness its natural resources for effective development.

Accordingly, the PDM also is expected to help Ghana to defend her interests and command respect in the international community.

Speaking at the launch of the movement on Friday, Rodaline Imoru, a member of the communication team of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), who was the guest of hounor, was hopeful the Movement would champion change in key aspects of society.

She said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have failed ordinary Ghanaians over the years.

Ms Imoru indicated that corruption on the part of members of the NDC and NPP had led to the failure of the State to provide basic social amenities for the masses.

According to her, “Our leaders will rather buy Land Cruisers for public servants than hospital beds and desks.”

The CPP stalwart said, “Filth has engulfed major cities across the country and Ghanaian political leaders have not deemed it right to invest in improving sanitation, but are sadly rather concerned about acquiring for themselves new communication gadgets like IPhones and Samsung Galaxies.

“Obtaining higher education today, unlike yesteryears, is no longer a guarantee for securing a job and unemployment continues to be on the rise,” she added.

She appealed to Ghanaians to join the Movement and demand accountability from the ruling class, adding that the shortcomings of government constitute “attacks on our very existence.”

A founding member of the PDM, Brandford Tay Quashie, stressed the need for youth to transform Ghana.

He pointed out that “the wealth of the nation is only benefiting a select few who belong to the ruling class.”
