Nana SKB Foundation to donate educational materials to schools in Asokore traditional area

The Nana SKB Foundation in collaboration with the John A. Kufour Foundation are scheduled to donate about 6000 customized exercise books, Pens, Chalks and other educational materials to some selected schools in the  Asokore Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region from 14th  to 18th December, 2018.

 

The move, according to the Foundations is part of their educational programmes that aims to assist pupils in the rural areas to have access to quality education regardless of the status of their parents, increase the enrolment of Junior High Schools (JHS) pupil in all the villages within the Asokore area and also to attract school dropout back to the mainstream.

The beneficiary schools would include, Apemso D/A JHS, Ahwerewa/ Feyiase JHS, Bomso JHS, Asukokor D/A JHS, Senchi D/A JHS, Ogua JHS, and Ahinsan JHS.

As part of the four –day activities, there would be an interactive session for the pupils, parents, management and staff of the John A. Kuffour Foundation and Nana SKB Foundation.

Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion would include Nana Susubribi Krobea Asante, the Omanhene of Asokore Traditional Area and the Patron of Nana SKB Foundation; Gyimah Ninkah Andrews, CEO of Nana SKB Foundation; Daniel Baah Appeadu, Deputy CEO of Nana SKB Foundation; Prof. Baffour Agyemang – Dua, CEO of the John A.Kufuor Foundation; Asokore Traditional Council and the Sekyere East District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service.

A Concept Note issued by the CEO of the Nana SKB Foundation, Mr Gyimah Ninkah Andrews sated that the programme is geared towards opening a bright educational future for the youth in the Asokore Traditional Area.

 

Nana SKB Foundation, is a non-governmental non-profit organization which was incorporated and commenced on 7th June, 2017, with the core objectives centered on education (formal and informal) and Child protection. It is dedicated to the upliftment of the welfare of the youth, children and vulnerable of Asokore Traditional Area in the Ashanti region through the mobilization and efficient utilization of resources.

The Foundation has the distinction of being managed by a core of highly motivated young men and women including some who have overcome the challenges of Physical disability and are acting as inspiring role models in the community.

Before incorporation, the enthusiastic support of volunteers and other corporate bodies helped visualize in organizing a free vacation classes for over 500 pupils in 2016, 700 pupils in 2017 and 816 pupils in 2018 in Asokore Traditional Area and the neighboring communities of which the foundation distributed  over 6000 exercise books  to all JHS pupils who participated in the classes,

Subsequently, the Foundation organized a clean–up exercise, a forum on child protection (child abuse) facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Ghana Police Service and a free health screening for the people of Asokore Traditional Area which was facilitated by Peace and Love Hospital (Breast Care International),Victory Regenerative Medical Centre (Kumasi) and Westphalian Eye Hospital (Oyoko) and recorded an enrolment of thousand nine hundred and sixty – four (1964) people.
