Vice President Opoku-Agyemang begins three-week medical leave

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has embarked on a three-week medical leave starting April 7, 2025, following her doctor’s recommendation to focus on her health and recovery.

This development was confirmed by sources at Jubilee House.

The Vice President’s leave comes after reports of recent health concerns, which required her to seek treatment abroad following initial care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, speaking during a community engagement in Lagos, Nigeria, on April 6, assured Ghanaians that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is recovering well and will soon resume her duties.

He expressed gratitude for the prayers and support from citizens both in Ghana and abroad, attributing them to her progress.

Addressing rumors about her health, Ablakwa dismissed what he described as “vicious and unGhanaian propaganda,” urging the public to focus on her resilience and achievements.

He highlighted her role as an inspiration to young girls and women, emphasizing her ability to break barriers and serve as a role model.
